Global Forum of Art Foundations 2010–What’s Unique About This Forum

Global Forum of Art Foundations 2010 will be held in Beijing, China from October 28-30, 2010. It will be chiefly hosted by China’s largest art foundation – Wu Zuoren International Foundation of Fine Arts (“WIFA”) (www.wuzuoren.org). The theme of the conference is “Exchange and Co-operation in the Era of Globalization” with the following major topics:
-What are the emerging trends experienced by art foundations around the world, major challenges faced by art foundations and their potential solutions?
-How art foundations can sponsor and advance art education and art development in developing countries?
-How to promote cross-border exchange and co-operation among art foundations?

This three-day forum will consist of a public forum on Oct 28, a private, invitation-only seminar on Oct 29 and a tour of some of Beijing’s unique art establishments on Oct 30. We’re expecting a sizable attendance of roughly 50-70 delegates and 15-20 speakers, representing some of the most prominent art foundations from North America, Europe and Asia. We are excited that this forum will help us not only to exchange ideas and practices, but also explore new avenues for co-operation at a time when globalization brings us increasingly greater challenges and opportunities while fundamentally reshaping the way we operate. In particular we’re interested in exploring how art foundations can help advance China’s art development and promote better exchange between China and the world.

The organizing committee of the forum consists of some core members of WIFA, such as Fan Di’an, Director of National Art Museum of China, LaoZhu, Professor of Art from Peking University, and China’s leading art critic, Zhao Li, Professor of Art from China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
